Amarcord

Ficus carica ‘Amarcord’

About

Amarcord is a rare, highly sought-after French variety discovered in Aiguillon, Lot-et-Garonne, France, and introduced to the fig world by Thierry Demarquest. Known for its large, squat, or oblate shape, it is characterized by intense, dark red pulp, a cracked purple-green exterior, and high moisture resistance. It is a very early ripening variety, often described as a dwarf type, making it ideal for compact spaces.

Growing Notes

  • Very early ripening — one of the first varieties to produce each season.
  • Dwarf habit makes it ideal for containers and compact spaces.
  • High moisture resistance — holds up well in humid conditions.
  • Cracked purple-green exterior is normal at ripeness; harvest when skin splits and pulp is deep red.
  • Cold-sensitive — protect below −5 °C (23 °F).

My Notes

Newly added, can’t wait to fruit and try. Excited about this variety.
