Strawberry Verte is a French variety prized for its striking appearance: the exterior remains bright green (verte = green) at full ripeness while the interior is a vivid, deep strawberry red. The flavour matches the visual drama — bright, sweet, and fruity with genuine strawberry-like notes. It is closely related to Emerald Strawberry and shares the same dramatic colour contrast that makes both varieties popular with collectors and gardeners alike.

My Notes

The green-outside, red-inside contrast makes this one of the most theatrical figs to serve. I often keep a few to cut open in front of guests — the reaction is always the same. Flavour is bright and refreshing, distinct from the heavier dark varieties.
