Angelito
Ficus carica ‘Angelito’About
Angelito is a fig variety prized in collector circles for its exceptionally sweet, berry flavor. This would be the quintessential one to have for all berry flavors. You have this, you don’t need any other variety. Absolutely Top Tier variety.
The figs are small to medium, with thin greenish-yellow skin blushing amber at full ripeness and soft, pale amber flesh that practically melts to just… red. Its naturally restrained growth makes it one of the best choices for growing in small containers or on balconies.
Watch the Tasting
See the flavour for yourself. Here is my Angelito tasting from the collection:
Growing Notes
- Full sun minimum 10 hours for maximum flavor.
- Moderately cold-hardy; protect below −5 °C (23 °F) or bring containers indoors.
My Notes
Acquired as a rooted cutting. Grown in a 15 L terracotta pot on the windowsill. The compact size is genuinely impressive — it fruited in its first full season. Flavour is outstanding for such a small tree.
Where to Find Angelito
Mislabeled figs are the collector’s oldest problem, and you usually don’t find out until the tree finally fruits years later. I list my own cuttings on Figstead — a marketplace I built and run, because I had been on the buying end of that problem too many times. That is also why the bar to sell there is where it is: 150+ verified sales at a 98%+ positive feedback rating before a seller is approved, and accountability for true-to-type accuracy resting on the seller personally. I sell under the same standard I set.
